Fetu Afahye 2024
The Fetu Afahye is an annual festival celebrated by the people of Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana. In 2024, the festival will once again bring together locals and visitors to honor the rich cultural heritage of the Oguaa Traditional Area.
The festival, which typically falls in the first week of September, features vibrant processions, traditional drumming and dancing, and the display of colorful attire. Highlights include the durbar of chiefs, where the paramount chief and other traditional leaders come together in a grand ceremony, and various cultural performances that showcase the history and legacy of the Fante people.
This festival, rooted in thanksgiving to the gods for a successful harvest and protection, is also an occasion for community reflection, bonding, and celebration of unity and progress.
